"Heart Strings" Quilt pattern by Pastimes Quilt Design

This quilt was a lot of fun to make.  The blocks were very simple and went together fast.  I thought they looked like hearts when I finished laying them out so I titled the pattern "Heart Strings"

"Diagonal Nines" a scrappy nine-patch quilt

My quilt group exchanged nine patch blocks in Civil War fabrics for an entire year.  This is what I made  from mine.  I decided to group the colors together in diagonal lines for a  more organized scrappy look and for dramatic effect.  Please view my Patterns for Sale page to view my other designs.

"Posies and Pinwheels" quilt pattern

I just finished binding my new quilt "Posies and Pinwheels".   The finished size is approx. 72" x 90".    I just love a scalloped border, and they are not as hard to do as you might think.  I used a wide variety of 1930's reproduction fabrics for this quilt.  Please view my "patterns page" for other designs.

Here is a close-up picture to show what a wonderful job my friend Helen did on the quilting.

"Diamond Play"

I finished another new quilt top today called "Diamond Play"  It is done in dark brown with bright lime green and robin egg blue.  It is a paper pieced pattern.  I am not usually a big fan of paper piecing but I was pleasantly surprised at how quickly this quilt went together.  There are four sections per block and only two seams per section.  Wow, how easy is that?  I will be adding a tutorial to show how I did the paper piecing a little later.  For right now, it's off the the longarm quilter. I hope to have the pattern published in about a month so keep checking my blog.

Snowmen in Snowflakes Quilt

Happy New Year!  Time to put away my Christmas decorations and pull out my snowmen decorations.  I designed this quilt several years ago using a panel.  I cut out the snowmen and set them in a snowflake block.  I have had many requests for the instructions for the snowflake block so you can find them on my Free Quilt Patterns page.

Don't snowmen just make you smile? :)
